Thanks to those that joined us for the 4th Midsummer-ish Hash-ish from the Royal Oak, in Rye Foreign last night.
The event is purely social and the entry fees covered the small amount of race expenses - primarily prizes - the barbecue and the live music. I think everybody enjoyed the evening and we’ll repeat it next year.
Congratulations to our race winners, Jeff Pyrah and Lynn Hayes (again!). Jeff broke the course record which has stood for three year. Well done too to those who collected a category prize. Wadhurst Runners managed to pinch the team prize from Hastings Runners, which sent at least one old man home happy.

A reminder about the annual Peasmarsh 4 Mile run
Just a final reminder about the annual Peasmarsh Midsummer-ish Hash-ish race which takes place at the Royal Oak in Rye Foreign this Thursday evening (24th). It's a ‘strictly for fun’ event open to all run over a 4 mile rural road course. Its just a fiver to enter and your entry fee pays for prizes, live music and a barbecue. If you are thinking of joining us we’d appreciate you letting us know so that we can make the catering arrangements. Just drop us an email at info@nice-work.org.uk. Sign on is from 6.30 and we set off the runners in groups of four from 7 pm. You'll find the Royal Oak on the A268 Rye to Peasmarsh/Hawkhurst road - just a couple of miles outside Rye.
Next month, on July 4th, we'll once again be assisting Wadhurst Runners with entry management and chip timing for the ever popular Bewl 15. This Sussex Grand Prix event is run over a challenging, multi-terrain course of a full 15 miles around Bewl Water. A great race package is on offer including a goody bag, a unique medal, free sports drinks and cakes.
If you are looking for a shorter distance, the Podplus 3 Lakes 5K organised by our friends at Podplus takes place on July 4th. This charity 5K starts and finishes at the Julie Rose Stadium in Ashford. Entry forms can be found on the Podplus website www.podplus.co.uk/3lakes5k, or you can enter online at the Run Britain website or at Runners World or in person at the Podplus Shop based at the Julie Rose Stadium, Ashford.
The 5th running of the Rye Summer Classic Series begins next month. This popular summer Friday night series goes from strength to strength and the first race in the series – the 10K – will be on Friday 16th July. Entries are available for each individual race – or you can save yourself a few pounds with a series entry.
Finally, towards the end of the summer we have a new race - the Charing 10K - taking place on Saturday September 4th at 10.30 in the village of Charing off the A20 between Maidstone and Ashford. The race starts and finishes at Charing School to whom all race profits will be donated.
You now have a choice on online entry options for all of these races. As usual you can enter via Runners World. Online entries are also available via the UKA portal You can also request a postal entry form by emailing us at info@nice-work.org.uk, visiting the Nice Work website or calling 01797 230999.
