Christmas races called off

Well, the weather has been threatening all week and, unfortunately, it decided to leave its mark on our weekend of Christmas races!

Despite the efforts of the Nice Work team and the Ashburnham staff, the Christmas Pudding Dash course became hazardous following a snow storm on Saturday morning. A delivery lorry stuck on the hill also didn't help and so the decision was taken to cancel the race. We did post messages on Facebook, Runners World and our own Nice Work site and we managed to reach most people some way or another. Unfortunately we were too late to prevent some runners arriving and we are grateful for their understanding.

At the end of the day we cannot take any risks with the safety of runners and spectators both on the course and travelling to and from the event - and the weather and road conditions in Ashburnham and surrounding areas from 11.00 onwards fully justified what was a really difficult decision for us.

We have rescheduled the race for Tuesday 28th December and we hope to see you all there then. It is a Bank Holiday and we'll still have mince pies, mulled wine, Christmas puds and other festive treats - so we'd love to see you then.

The Kent Christmas Cracker has also fallen victim to the weather due to an unsafe running surface and dangerous travel conditions. This race has been rescheduled for Sunday January 2nd 2011.
