Runners from all over the south east – and some from even further afield - will be descending upon the Sandiacres Sports Ground in Sandiacres Lane, Ashford on Sunday February 6th. And the popular Ashford & District 10K, organised by Ashford & District Roadrunners looks set to attract a record field.
Advance entries for the 2011 race are showing a marked increase on last year and Club Secretary Lynne Oliver is anticipating around 900 runners of all standards - from novice joggers to seasoned competitors - to line up for the start. "Last year’s race was so well received that the event was voted the 7th best 10K in the UK and we’ve attracted a great entry already – but there are still spaces available for those who want to sign up and run”
The 10K race is over a flat, traffic-free course in and around the quiet country lanes north of the town, with the start at the Sandiacres Club.
The race starts at 11.00 am and all finishers will receive a medal and Goody Bag plus there are prizes for the leading runners.
The race is organised on behalf of Ashford & District Roadrunners by specialist road race event company Nice Work and further details of the event are available at www.ashfordanddistrict10K.co.uk
